Discussion about Joan As Police Woman - Real Life
Jonide
So firstly I'm at home and watching a strangely unemotional documentary called "Guys and Dolls" about men with serious relationship hang-ups and their having had to resort to the use of hi-tech synthetic dolls for both sex and companionship. At the point I felt the momentum had been lost and I was just involved in some rather shallow but mildly entertaining voyeurism, I decided to check out the new Joan as Police Woman lp "Real Life". Leaving the pictures rolling the title track slowly stirs into motion and I have to say it was just one of those beautiful coincidences that I live for, when two artforms combine to make something unforgettable. The image of one of the afforementioned "Guys" with two of his "Dolls" and a prospective real life girlfriend all sitting round a table taking afternoon tea set the tone for a spine tingling picture of what could easily be analysed but simply does not require it. Joan as Police Woman now recieves regular spins, dark and poignant at times whilst every bit as enjoyable. Maybe I could have felt the same way without that coincidental emphasis, but I'm always grateful for these moments.
